Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Site Maintenance Leader, the Electrician will utilize strong knowledge of components and systems to maintain and repair electrical equipment including, but not limited to conveyors, pumps, motors, blowers, fans, compressors, etc. This position requires extensive knowledge of electrical components as well as electrical safety codes and regulations. All duties must be performed in compliance with established company, department, and safety policies and procedures. This position works a day shift schedule and requires some on call duties.
Job Description
Receives guidance & direction from group leader or maintenance department supervisor.
Checks, repairs, installs all existing or new plant instrumentation & electrical machinery, controls, or equipment such as, but not limited to control system/programming wiring, timers, switches, control panels, fuse boxes, electrical valves and meters.
Handle all electrical work concerning pumps, blowers, motors, conveyors, filters, baghouses, etc.
Must be able to read & interpret P&ID’s, electrical wiring diagrams, process logic diagrams, control logic diagrams and be fluent in control system terminology and be able to apply it.
Must be able to quickly diagnose and solve process issues; especially those involving instrumentation & electrical issues.
Perform all secondary duties such as staging equipment, drilling holes, securing braces/supports, installing conduit, etc. Essentially all activities necessary to complete an assigned task.
Check and repair Plant electrical and instrumentation devices used throughout the plant.
Prepare, operate & maintain all equipment necessary to fulfill work assignments.
Assist in training new Electrical & Instrumentation Technicians.
Clean up work areas and utilize 5s principles to maintain a clean & orderly work environment
Do all other related work as required.
What will it take
- Degree or certification from an accredited program in electrical, instrumentation & controls maintenance.
- Minimum 5 years experience working in chemical processing and demonstrated use of electrical, instrumentation & controls skills.
- Experienced with basic troubleshooting and programming of Allen Bradley equipment, Delta-V experience a plus.
- Familiarity with industrial electrical systems and the National Electrical Code.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must meet minimum physical requirements which included, but not limited to medical clearance examination and respirator fit testing to wear a respirator for certain tasks, even able to wear a respirator during strenuous physical activity.
Ability to meet requirements of the hearing conservation program.
Ability to operate a forklift and other equipment integral to the job tasks/function
Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time, climb, and regularly kneel, squat, bend, and stoop, twist and reach overhead with repetitive motions.
Ability to lift and/or carry up to 55 pounds and no more than 100 pounds without assistance,
Ability to work at heights above 50 feet, including on ladders and lifts.
Salary Range
The base pay rate is $40.01. In addition to hiring pay, compensation package may include additional components such as health benefits, life insurance, 401K, vacation.
