Job Summary
The Infrastructure & Service Engineer has primary responsibility to deliver technology services to Elementis’ employees globally, enabling them to effectively operate on a day-to-day basis. This requires robust knowledge of the business’ technology stack across hardware and software - a good understanding of its infrastructure, including servers, network devices, data centres, Microsoft 365 configuration and security protocols are also key to this primary responsibility. The second focus is on business infrastructure. The Infrastructure & Service Engineer will work closely with the Senior Infrastructure Specialist in an hand-on activity, supporting, maintaining, improving, and upgrading the business infrastructure following a multi-year strategic roadmap that aligns with the Elementis business

Responsibilities
The Infrastructure & Service Engineer is responsible for appropriate technology support services within a global team and providing support, maintenance, and enhancements to the Elementis global infrastructure in partnership with the Infrastructure Specialist and Service Delivery Specialist.
Service delivery
- Ensure deliver of a robust service, in a global service organisation mindset that can work flexibly and prioritise tickets on a global basis as opposed to a local focus. This will facilitate a better service for the business, ensuring issue resolution can continue after the end of the working day.
- Responsible for resolution of issues across the IT service spectrum, partnering with functions to ensure their users have the technology required to function effectively.
- Share service insights with both the Senior Service Specialist and Infrastructure Specialist to help improve the service across the business, particularly with a view on replacing ageing equipment that may need inclusion in the budget process.
- Oversight of infrastructure projects designed to improve service for the region, ensuring that critical services and business deliveries are considered around any business impacting changes.
- You identify and ensure that issues are resolved that may affect the delivery or quality of service, such as troubleshooting, support, maintenance, or security incidents.
- Collaborating with the service provider, when applicable, to continuously improve the quality of the services being delivered.
Infrastructure Management
- You set-up, configure and manage the elements of infrastructure managed in-house.
- Works with Senior Infrastructure Specialist and third-party providers on selection of all aspects of infrastructure, including networks, servers, security infrastructure, end-user devices (in conjunction with security manager) and their management, upgrades, and monitoring.
- Partners with the Senior Infrastructure Specialist on developing a multi-year view of how infrastructure should evolve to avoid operational risk whilst planning to take advantage of newer technologies.
- Increase awareness of emerging service and infrastructure technologies which could include SAAS solutions, assessing cloud for new challenges or replacing obsolete equipment and partnering more MSPs (Managed Service Providers)
Risk and controls:
- Evaluate infrastructure risks and mitigations.
- Ensure that recovery, backup and disaster recovery processes and plans (including testing these plans) are performed.
Best practice
- Keep up to date with the latest service and infrastructure trends, developments, and best practices.
- Maintain logs, documentation, and reports of activity (bugs, repairs, upgrades and other changes).
- Closely collaborate with security on issues, regulatory requirements, and incidents
Decision making
The role partners Elementis’ authorities on IT infrastructure and service - acts as a ‘right-hand’ to both team leaders in addition to contributing to service decisions taken to improve service globally.

Technical Knowledge and Skills
- Hands-on knowledge of the following hardware: Cisco Routers and switches, laptop configuration, VMWare, Meraki, exchange online configuration and management, Palo Alto, Telephony, network printers.
- Hands-on knowledge of Windows Server and Desktop OS, ThreatLocker, ServiceNow, Azure cloud, M365 configuration, Palo Alto and Cisco.
Position Requirements
Education: Computer science, Information Systems or similar degree or professional qualification would be an advantage. 3+ Years of hands-on experience with Infrastructure and the tools required to effectively manage it. Member of infrastructure project teams Language Skills: Verbal and written fluency in English. Working arrangements: The role is based at the Porto Hub. Traveling required: Occasional travel to other Elementis sites as required.
