Job Summary

Primary Functions Under the direction of supervision, safely and efficiently operate & control chemical processes to deliver in-spec product. Operate processes and equipment to meet production schedules and deliver finished goods as directed. Secondary Functions Reprocess reject material as required. Maintain housekeeping at a high level in accordance with established standards. Monitor inventories of storage tanks and silos, and record process data as directed. Complete in process testing as required, and take samples to lab as needed. Clean system before and after product changes and/or maintenance work.

Job Description

Work safely at all times by identifying and mitigating hazards Monitor process parameters and control processes within established ranges Input the required data into control systems in order to adequately control processes. Visually inspect & test product during processing. Adjust operating parameters to maintain processes in a state of control. Monitor & verify proper operation of all emission control equipment including dust collection equipment. Operate forklift, packing machines, scales, and related packing equipment to pack out product as specified. Obtain required finished goods samples. Record all code data and stage finished goods. Maintain a clean and safe work area with high attention to housekeeping Assist in training new employees as required. Perform other duties as assigned by the shift supervisor. Requires on-the-job relief as specified, depending on the current production schedule requirements.

Position Requirements

Must possess solid trouble shooting skills and be able to diagnose process problems.

Operate forklift, packing machines, scales, and related packing equipment to pack out product as specified.

Ability to take process samples, make process adjustments or material additions from specific locations.

5 years of experience as an operator/technician in a specialty chemical or petroleum plant is a plus.

2 year’s experience in a manufacturing facility is a plus.

Minimum Physical Requirements

Candidate will need to pass a Fit for Duty examination and a respirator medical clearance examination and respirator fit test to wear a respirator for certain tasks, even able to wear a respirator during strenuous physical activity.

Candidate must have the ability to:

  • Meet the requirements of the hearing conservation program.
  • Stand and walk for long periods of time, climb, and regularly kneel, squat, bend, and stoop, twist, and reach overhead with repetitive motions.
  • Ability to lift and/or carry up to 55 pounds without assistance and repeatedly lift and stack up to 55-pound bags of product onto a pallet from the packer when required.
  • Visually monitor process equipment and analytical test equipment.
  • Turn manual valves and connect and disconnect large and long length of hoses.
  • Carry chemical test sample containers weighing up to 20 pounds and walk upstairs to the lab or to another work platform.
