Job Summary

The plant engineer will provide engineering support for process and project improvements (including reliability), drive Value Creation Projects (VCP) and Continuous Improvement Projects (CIP). This position will drive change through manufacturing process and business systems improvements to help operations and maintenance teams achieve operational excellence and the lowest achievable cost base. Responsible for ensuring projects are well designed, executed, completed on time, achieve the design requirements and on budget.

Job Description

  • Originates fixes for plant problems, applying broad knowledge of plant systems capabilities, regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company/plant procedures.
  • Program and maintain programmable logic controllers, Human machine interface equipment.
  • Plant Engineer shall possess leadership and communication skills, practical engineering knowledge, and a track record for timely project delivery, project management, cost control, and customer satisfaction for executing Capital investment projects.
  • Evaluates and selects Instrumentation plant wide, maintains calibration records and SOPs related to calibration.
  • Initiate action to report and prevent the occurrence of any non-conformity relating to the product, process, and quality system.
  • Prepares flow diagrams, process flow diagrams, P&ID’s, and equipment and control specifications
  • Continuously investigates and evaluates new ideas, methods, engineering processes, technologies, and materials related to plant operation and recommends improvements.
  • Control further processing or delivery of non-conforming product until the deficiencies or unsatisfactory condition have been corrected.
  • Use the Corrective and Preventative Action program and Internal Audit process to initiate, recommend and resolve product issues or quality system failures.
  • Develop a good working relationship with other departments to provide clear, aligned strategic direction to plant personnel through established plant Quality Objectives and other KPI goals, while striving to achieve consistent and standardized operations through the Quality Management System.
  • Manages capital projects. Responsible for determining justification, scope definition, HSSE reviews, Pre-startup Safety Reviews, coordination of implementation with production schedule, startup, commissioning, and closure.
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace. This includes ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations through developing and/or enforcing safety rules and procedures.
  • Collaborate with various departments to maintain mechanical integrity of all plant machinery.
  • Originates MOC requests and provides follow-up responses to MOC findings.
  • Works very closely with Shift Supervisor’s, Operators and maintenance daily and oversees the technical troubleshooting within the Plant.
  • Provides engineering and technical expertise and guidance for plant system/equipment repairs, modifications, and replacement/upgrades.
  • Review plant data and perform trend analyses to detect present and potential system/equipment problems. Performs root-cause analyses for plant system/equipment failures.
  • Will understand, promote, and adhere to all Environmental, Health and Safety principles and the Basic Safety Process and will be accountable for assuring compliance with HSE Policies.
  • Any other duties assigned by your manager.

What will it take

Position Requirements

Education:  Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/chemical engineering or a related field

Experience: 5+ years

Special Requirements and Independency: Professional Engineer (PE) credentials, preferred but not required

Traveling Required: Up to 10% if onsite support is needed at other locations, however this is rare.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs, stand, walk, reach, stoop, squat, climb ramps & stairs, push and pull, reach at or below shoulder level and occasionally overhead, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds (machinery alarms).

IT Skills:  ERP Skills (JDE), Microsoft Office Suite,  Visio, Fonario, AutoCAD LT.

Preferred experience working with: Rosemount Radar Master, Power Xpert Incontrol logic Engine, Prolink III V4.4 Professional, RW Explorer, PATware 5.0, SIEMENS Total integrated Portal V15 – V18, SIWAtool V7, VEGA – DTM configurator, Microsoft SQL Server

Language Skills: Ability to speak, write, and read English.

Salary Range

The base hiring range is between $108,613.30 - $132,749.59. In addition to hiring salary, compensation package may include additional components such as health benefits, life insurance, 401K, vacation and yearly bonus incentives.
